Located in Alpena, Michigan, the MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena offers emergency care and general medical services. The hospital has a 24-hour emergency room and provides services for all types of patients, including behavioral health and cancer care. The medical center also offers orthopedics, surgery, and rehabilitation services. In addition, the facility has several specialized programs, including wound care and hyperbaric medicine.
The medical center is currently expanding its services and will add a three-story patient tower to its current facility. The new tower will include 60 private patient rooms, eight intensive care unit beds, eight labor and delivery rooms, 44 medical/surgical/telemetry beds, and flex space. It is expected to be completed in early 2022.
One recent donation of $25,000 will help the Alpena facility build a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) suite in its new patient tower. This new wing is slated to open in April 2022. This will allow the hospital to provide a broader range of services and more comprehensive care for patients.
Alpena Medical Center is a MidMichigan Health affiliate and has 139 beds. The hospital provides inpatient and outpatient health care services for residents of Alcona County. Approximately 100 physicians practice at the hospital. The medical center also features cardiopulmonary education and cardiac rehabilitation. In addition to its acute care services, the hospital also offers cardiac rehabilitation, blood clinic care, and cancer treatment.
As part of the agreement with HealthWise, Alpena Regional Medical Center agreed to purchase preemployment screenings from HealthWise. However, the agreement had certain limitations. Defendants’ testimony demonstrates that the medical center delegated some hiring decisions to the pre-employment screening company. It also states that the form did not include a question regarding emotional status. It also states that the Alpena Regional Medical Center was aware of the results of preemployment exams.
