The 139-bed Alpena hospital is also known for its Cancer Center and specializes in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treatment, an emergency treatment option for patients with the most severe type of heart attack. Its quality and patient experience scores are above state averages, according to the latest Healthgrades awards.

MyMichigan Health, the Midland-based owner of the Alpena hospital, recently announced it will acquire Ascension Michigan’s Saginaw, Tawas and Standish medical locations. Erickson, the president of MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena, will take over leadership of those facilities when they formally join the MyMichigan system, expected in early summer 2024.

Courtney Witulski, FNP-BC practices family medicine. She graduated from Alpena Community College, and continued her education at Spring Arbor University and Frontier Nursing University. She has a Master’s Degree in Nursing and is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Sarah Hainstock, FNP-C practices family medicine and has a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan, Flint. She has previous experience in lactation counseling and women’s health.

Renee Smolinski, LLMSW, is a Behavioral Health Therapist. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University and has a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Her professional interests include trauma and addictions.

MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena also has an extensive telehealth program. Its physicians and nurses are able to diagnose and treat patients using videoconferencing, which saves time and money for both the patients and the hospital.
