Doctor Who – Who Are Doctors?

Doctor

Doctors are responsible for assessing, diagnosing and treating patients. They are at the forefront of medical breakthroughs, using cutting-edge technologies and innovative therapies to give patients the best possible care. They also play an important role in educating the public about health-related topics.

There are many different types of doctors, with each having their own specialty. Physicians are usually referred to by the letters MD after their names, which stands for “Medical Degree”. Those with a DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) have completed a four-year undergraduate program and a rigorous internship before beginning their career as a primary care doctor. Most doctors specialize in one of 30 different specialties after completing their residency program.

Some doctors are considered “top doctors” in their field, which is a title that many people aspire to achieve. These physicians are recognized by their peers and their work is regularly published in medical journals. However, some of the methods used to determine these top doctors are questionable. For example, many medical publications will poll large groups of doctors and ask them to name their most recommended physicians in particular specialties. These doctors will then be listed as “top doctors” based on their responses. This method is often subject to manipulation and bias, as doctors in larger practices are more likely to vote for their colleagues than those in small solo practices.

As the first female Doctor, Jodie Whittaker’s time as a Time Lord will be remembered fondly, even if she did have a bit of a rocky start. Her talent and commitment to the role has made her a firm fan favourite, but it may take a little longer for the scripts to catch up with her stellar acting.

Sylvester McCoy is the last Doctor to hold down the mantle, and he stepped into the role at a time when it was starting to lose momentum. He brought a dark edge to the character and gave it a serious boost, but his era was cut short by the BBC’s decision to axe the show.

Jon Pertwee took the helm in the third Doctor era and was a big improvement on his predecessors. He was dapper and charming, with a physical presence that set him apart from his contemporaries. His run was hampered by the loss of several episodes, but he is still regarded as one of the best iterations of the Doctor.

Matt Smith’s fez and bow-tie loving Doctor certainly has its charms, but it takes a lot of effort to take his quirky antics seriously during some of the more dramatic storylines in the series. This isn’t always a problem, but his take on the tenth iteration of the Time Lord does lack some of the depth of previous portrayals.
