About alpena medical center

Alpena Regional Medical Center, located in Alpena, Michigan, is part of the MidMichigan Health System. It serves patients in northeast Michigan and is one of only five hospitals in the country offering Gamma Knife Perfexion, which delivers the gold standard in brain tumor treatment. The hospital offers the latest in medical technology and procedures, including a robotic-assisted surgery suite.

The facility has been rated C by the Leapfrog Group for safety. It ranked poorly in the prevalence of clostridioides difficile, an abdominal infection that can occur after antibiotic use, serious breathing problems after surgery, and harmful events at the hospital, such as falls leading to broken hips or collapsed lungs. It was above average in measures relating to staff working together to prevent errors, having enough doctors and nurses, having the right medicines ready for patients, patient communication about treatment plans, handwashing, and communicating with physicians and nurses.

MyMichigan Health system, which includes the Alpena hospital, also has hospitals in Traverse City, Petoskey, Midland, Sault Ste. Marie, and West Branch. The company is rebranding the hospitals with new names to better reflect their roles in communities and the health care system. The rebranding will start with the Alpena hospital, now called MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena, and later will include War Memorial Hospital Sault Ste. Marie.

MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena has a total of 111 practicing physicians, which include 41 specialists. The Medical Center is also home to a cancer clinic that provides Michigan Medicine physicians and expertise in a safe, patient-focused environment.

Founded in 1940, alpena medical center is a great place to work with an excellent culture. It has a low turnover rate, which is a good indicator that employees are happy with their jobs. It is a family-owned company that has been around for many years and focuses on hiring graduates of Alpena Community College.
