The MidMichigan Health Board of Directors has decided to add two members from Alpena to its ranks. They are Dr. Richard Willis and Greg Rogers. Both will be active in community affairs and will bring their experience and knowledge of healthcare to the board. During the meeting, Dr. Willis shared his insights into the history of MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena. His perspective was presented on behalf of the Planned Gifts Committee of the MidMichigan Health Foundation Development Council.

The Medical Center of Alpena has received numerous awards for its excellent care. It was named a 2017 Top Rural Community Hospital by Becker’s Hospital Review and has earned a spot on the list of Michigan’s 100 Great Community Hospitals. In addition, the hospital has been recognized with the Governor’s Quality Improvement Organization’s 2017 Governor’s Award of Excellence for exemplary reporting and quality care in the acute care hospital setting.

The former Alpena General Hospital has undergone a rebranding. After merging with the MidMichigan Health System, Alpena is now part of the network. The hospital offers comprehensive cardiopulmonary and dietary/nutrition services, along with innovative cancer treatment. It is home to a variety of programs for all kinds of medical conditions, including pediatric care. There are also several onsite labs for blood, x-ray, and MRI services.
