In August of 1985, Cindy was pregnant with twins and decided to preregister for delivery at Alpena General Hospital. Two months before her due date, she filled out a form requesting that she not receive blood transfusions. In May of 1986, Cindy went into labor. Her husband, Donald, signed the form.
The medical center is a part of the six-hospital Mid Michigan Health System. The hospital is located right next to Lake Huron and features an on-campus office building. The hospital was recently named a “Top Rural Community Hospital” by the National Rural Health Association. It also made the list of “100 Great Community Hospitals” by Becker’s Hospital Review. Additionally, the hospital is currently expanding its services, and construction is underway for a new tower.
