ABOUT THE FACILITY
Alpena General Hospital is a 139-bed critical access hospital providing general medical and surgical services for inpatients and outpatients as well as a 24-hour emergency room to the Alpena, Michigan community. The hospital offers medical specialties that include behavioral health services, cancer care, diagnostic imaging (x-ray and CT scanning), orthopedics, pain management, rehabilitation services, surgical services, women’s health, and wound & hyperbaric medicine.
The hospital also has a freestanding emergency department with its own ambulances. In addition, it offers a variety of outpatient services that include the Heart Institute, a cardiac catheterization lab, and an ambulatory surgery center. Lastly, it offers the community wellness programs. The hospital has been accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.

In April 2016, the hospital joined MidMichigan Health, an affiliate of the University of Michigan Health System. It is now known as MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena and will start using the new name in 2018. The health care system has also rebranded its local clinics.
MyMichigan Health is an American non-profit health system headquartered in Midland, Michigan and affiliated with Michigan Medicine, the health care division of the University of Michigan. The system serves a 23-county region and includes medical centers in Midland, Alma, Clare, Gladwin, Mt. Pleasant, West Branch, and Sault Ste. Marie, as well as urgent care centers, home care, physicians, and medical offices.
