The Alcona Health Center is a not-for-profit federally qualified community health center offering comprehensive medical, behavioral and dental services to northern Michigan. They strive to improve patient outcomes through an innovative team approach and the use of a patient-centered medical home model. They are committed to HRSA compliance, quality improvement and transparency of their performance metrics.
Alcona Health Center is constructing a new, 6,400-square-foot health care building in Alpena to house both medical and behavioral health services. The goal is to make access easier for pediatric patients by having both services under one roof, and to enhance coordination of care with a single provider in the same space. Pediatrician Leah Conboy and pediatric nurse practitioner Mari Anderson are both moving to the new facility when it opens. Child/adolescent psychiatrist Adrienne Westphal will also be joining the staff.
In addition to the medical and behavioral health services, there will be a pharmacy on site as well. The pharmacy will be staffed by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, and will offer delivery service within the community. Eventually, the pharmacy will be expanded to offer prescription filling and other specialty medication services.

To schedule an appointment, call a provider’s office directly. The office will determine whether a same-day or next-day appointment is available. They ask that you try to schedule appointments for chronic health issues at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance, and short-term visits (earaches, sore throats) in the morning when the office opens.
