Last week, the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services updated its ratings for hospitals across the country. The ratings look at five categories with various levels of subcategories under each. The MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena ranked higher than average on most of the categories including safety and patient experience, according to the hospital’s president Michael Erickson.

The safety category looked at measures related to patient mortality and readmission rates. The hospital ranked better than the state and national average in both of these areas. The patient experience rating looked at questions and responses from patients regarding how they were treated by the staff. Alpena’s score was higher than the state and national average in seven of the 10 questions.

Sarah Stevens, PA-C practices family medicine and has a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Science from Grand Valley State University and a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University. Her area of professional interest is women’s health. She has been a physician assistant since 2007.

Hasan Basheera, MD-MPH is a Family Medicine provider who graduated from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine with a Bachelors of Medical Technology and Human Biology, a Master of Public Health, and a Doctor of Medicine degree. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
