Last week, the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services updated its ratings for hospitals across the country. The ratings look at five categories with various levels of subcategories under each. The MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena ranked higher than average on most of the categories including safety and patient experience, according to the hospital’s president Michael Erickson.
The safety category looked at measures related to patient mortality and readmission rates. The hospital ranked better than the state and national average in both of these areas. The patient experience rating looked at questions and responses from patients regarding how they were treated by the staff. Alpena’s score was higher than the state and national average in seven of the 10 questions.
