As an award-winning, critical access hospital, alpena general offers inpatient and outpatient care with a 24-hour emergency department. The hospital provides a wide range of medical services and is also home to a behavioral health program for adults and adolescents that treats addiction and mental illness.
The hospital also serves as a teaching center and has over 200 active physicians, residents and students on staff. The facility is also home to a number of specialty programs, including cardiology, women’s health, orthopedics and surgical services.
The facility is currently in the process of adding a new patient tower, which will add 60 private rooms, eight labor and delivery suites and 44 medical, surgical and telemetry beds. The 100,585-square-foot addition will also include 18 prep and recovery rooms, flex rooms and five operating rooms.
