ARMC welcomes new pulmonologist to staff Wayne Ruth, M.D., F.C.C.P, a pulmonologist, is excited to become a part of Northern Michigan and Alpena Regional Medical Center. "My mother was an emergency room nurse so I grew up with her ‘war stories’, her love of medicine infected me," explains Ruth when asked about his choice in entering the medical field. Ruth received his medical degree from Duke University in North Carolina after completing his undergraduate schooling at North Carolina State University. He completed his Internship and Residency at Duke University Medical Center and a Fellowship in the Division of Allergy, Critical Care and Respiratory Medicine at Duke University Medical Center. Ruth is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary Disease and in Sleep Medicine. Ruth has helped people cope with disabling lung diseases and poor quality sleep for over 20 year. "Helping people learn to live better, breathe better, and sleep restfully is incredibly rewarding," said Ruth. Prior to moving to Alpena, Ruth was in private practice at Mountain Sleep and Respiratory Medicine in Asheville, North Carolina. In his free time Ruth enjoys hunting and fishing, but mostly just being with his family. He also enjoys playing with computers and other such gadgets. "The staff and people I’ve met around town were warm and welcoming," adds Ruth. "I look forward to exploring the Alpena area with Elizabeth, my wife and two stepsons." Ruth is accepting new patients beginning July 19. His office is located at Alpena Regional Medical Center on the 2nd floor of the Health Resource Center.
